[Excerpt] [...]Speaking of geek dreams, Sydney will be hosting the world premiere of "Thor", the latest Marvel comic book adaptation film, next month.

The premiere will be at the George Street cinemas on Sunday, April 17. Four days later it will go into wide release in Australia, meaning local audiences can see the $150 million blockbuster two weeks before the US public.

The film's director, Kenneth Branagh, US actress Kat Dennings and former Summer Bay schoolboy-cum-Hollywood man of the moment Chris Hemsworth - aka Thor himself - have all been confirmed as guests for the premiere.

The film follows the Nordic god as he is banished to the mortal realm for misdeeds in the mystical realm Asgard. There he falls in love with Natalie Portman, as one does, and has to battle the evil Loki and his magical army. According to Norwegians, the film is based on a true story.
